Paver patio installation by CreekView Landscape in Wilsonville Oregon

Paver Installation in Wilsonville, OR

Custom paver patios, walkways, and driveways built to last through Oregon's climate. Prices typically range from $15 to $30 per square foot installed.

Professional Paver Installation for Oregon Homes

Paver installation transforms driveways, patios, and walkways into durable, visually striking surfaces that add immediate value to your home. CreekView Landscape installs concrete pavers, natural stone, and permeable paver systems across Wilsonville, West Linn, Lake Oswego, Sherwood, Tigard, Beaverton, Tualatin, and Happy Valley.

Unlike poured concrete, interlocking pavers flex with Oregon's freeze-thaw cycles instead of cracking. A properly installed paver patio lasts 25 to 50 years with minimal maintenance. The interlocking design distributes weight evenly, and individual pavers can be replaced if damaged — without tearing out the entire surface.

Our installation crew handles every phase of the project: site excavation, grading, compacted aggregate base preparation, edge restraint installation, paver placement, and polymeric sand jointing. We use a minimum 6-inch compacted gravel base for patios and an 8 to 10-inch base for driveways, exceeding the ICPI (Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute) minimum standards for the Pacific Northwest climate.

What We Install

We build paver surfaces for every part of your property — from the front walkway to the backyard patio.

Paver Patios

Paver patios are the most requested hardscaping project in the Portland metro area. A standard 300-square-foot patio costs between $4,500 and $9,000 installed, depending on the paver material and design complexity. We build patios in running bond, herringbone, basketweave, and custom patterns using concrete pavers, travertine, or flagstone.

Paver Walkways

A paver walkway connects your driveway, patio, garden, or side yard with a clean, level surface that eliminates muddy paths during Oregon's rainy season. Walkways typically run 3 to 4 feet wide and cost $20 to $35 per linear foot installed, including base preparation and edge restraints.

Paver Driveways

Paver driveways handle heavier loads than patios and require a thicker aggregate base — typically 8 to 10 inches of compacted crushed rock. Driveway pavers are rated for vehicular traffic and installed in interlocking patterns that prevent shifting. A two-car driveway averages $12,000 to $25,000 depending on size and material.

Permeable Pavers

Permeable paver systems allow stormwater to filter through the joints into a gravel reservoir below, reducing runoff and meeting Oregon's stormwater management requirements. They are ideal for driveways, parking areas, and patios near natural water features in communities like Lake Oswego and West Linn.

How We Install Pavers

Every paver project follows a proven 6-step process that ensures a level, stable, and long-lasting surface.

Site Assessment

We visit your property, take measurements, assess drainage conditions, check soil type, and discuss material options. You receive a detailed written estimate within a few days.

Excavation

We excavate the area to a depth of 8 to 12 inches depending on the application, removing topsoil and organic material that could cause settling.

Base Preparation

Crushed aggregate is laid in 2-inch lifts and compacted with a plate compactor to 95% Proctor density. This base is the foundation of a paver surface that will not shift or settle.

Bedding and Layout

A 1-inch layer of coarse bedding sand is screeded to a precise, level surface. Edge restraints are installed, and the paver pattern is laid out with string lines.

Paver Placement

Pavers are placed by hand in the chosen pattern, cut to fit edges and curves with a wet saw, and checked for level throughout the installation.

Jointing and Compaction

Polymeric sand is swept into the joints and activated with water. The entire surface receives a final pass with a plate compactor to lock everything into place.

Benefits of Paver Installation

Pavers outperform poured concrete, stamped concrete, and gravel surfaces in the Pacific Northwest climate for several specific reasons.

  • 25 to 50-year lifespan when installed on a proper aggregate base — compared to 10 to 15 years for stamped concrete before major cracking
  • Flexes with freeze-thaw cycles instead of cracking. Oregon experiences 20 to 40 freeze-thaw cycles per winter in the Willamette Valley
  • Individual pavers can be removed and replaced without disturbing the surrounding surface — ideal for utility access or repair
  • 3 to 4 times the compressive strength of poured concrete (8,000+ PSI vs. 2,500 PSI for standard concrete)
  • Permeable options reduce stormwater runoff by up to 100%, which can lower stormwater fees in cities like Tigard and Beaverton
  • Adds 10% to 15% to your home's resale value according to the National Association of Realtors

Paver Installation Questions

Paver installation in the Portland metro area typically costs $15 to $30 per square foot installed, which includes excavation, base preparation, pavers, and polymeric sand jointing. A 300-square-foot patio averages $4,500 to $9,000. Driveways cost more due to the thicker base required — expect $20 to $35 per square foot. We provide exact pricing in your free on-site estimate.

Most paver patios take 3 to 5 days to complete, depending on size and site conditions. A standard 300-square-foot patio with minimal excavation typically takes 3 days. Larger projects with retaining walls, steps, or complex patterns may take up to 7 days. We provide a timeline during your free consultation.

Interlocking concrete pavers with a minimum compressive strength of 8,000 PSI perform best in the Willamette Valley's wet winters and freeze-thaw cycles. We recommend pavers that meet or exceed ASTM C936 standards. Natural stone like travertine and bluestone also work well when installed on a proper aggregate base with adequate drainage. We help you choose the right material during your free consultation.

Pavers require very little maintenance. We recommend sweeping periodically, applying polymeric sand to joints every 3 to 5 years, and pressure washing once a year to remove moss and algae — both common in Oregon's damp climate. Optional sealer application every 2 to 3 years enhances color and provides additional stain protection.

In some cases, pavers can be installed over existing concrete if the slab is structurally sound, level, and has adequate drainage. However, we generally recommend removing old concrete and building a proper aggregate base. This ensures long-term stability and prevents issues with drainage and settling. We assess your specific situation during the free on-site estimate.
